Please do not use GPS or MapQuest without checking against our directions. Their's have been wrong--unless you like driving an extra hour over two mountain ranges!

Basic Directions to Luray and to the Outfitters:

Directions from D.C. Area: Beltway 495 to 66W to Exit 43A at Gainesville. Take Rt 29South to Warrenton. Follow signs to Rt 211 W to Luray. In Luray, (Follow signs for Shenandoah River Outfitters), take 2nd Exit for 340 South Business, go one block. Turn right onto Rt 675-Mechanic St; go 4 miles(Bixlers Ferry Rd.); cross Shenandoah River--follow directions below: App. 90 miles from Beltway. About 2 hours.

From Richmond Area: 64W to Charlottesville, 29N to Ruckersville, 33W to Elkton, 340 N to 211E 6 miles toward Luray. When see Rainvow Hill Gift Shop on right, turn next left on Rt. 652 (Airport Rd), follow to stop sign. Turn left onto Rt. 675(Bixlers Ferry Rd). Go 3 miles, cross Shenandoah River--follow directions below: About 2 1/2 hours.

From Rt 81-New Market Area: Exit 264 at New Market onto 211 East. Follow thru New Market, over mountain. When see Rainbow Hill Gift Shop on right, turn next left on Rt. 652 (Airport Rd), follow to stop sign. Turn left onto Rt. 675(Bixlers Ferry Rd). Go 3 miles, cross Shenandoah River-follow directions below:

To the Newest set of Larger River Cabins--Hook, Line and Sinker:
After crossing the River, immediately turn Right onto Rt 684, South Page Valley Road, go 1.5 miles to Fish Tale Ln on your right. There will be the 3 cabins-Hook, Line and Sinker. Shenandoah River Outftitters is 5.5 miles further down the road.

To Bella Vista Mountain Cottage:
After crossing River--turn right on Rt 684 (S. Page Valley Rd), go 6 miles, go pass sign for Shenandoah Lodge, to MountainView Drive. Turn left, go to top of hill to house with the all glass front--#376. Bella Vista sign out front. Lock box by front door. Go to or call the Outfitters first if you do not have lock box code for key. Shenandoah River Outfitters is down the road (Rt 684) another 1/2 mile. The hours there are 8 AM to 5 PM April 1-Nov 15. There is a payphone there and emergency numbers, if needed.

To the other Shenandoah River Cabins:

After crossing River--turn right on Rt 684 (S. Page Valley Rd), go 7 miles to the Outfitters’ store. Continue on to the cabins 3.3 miles (the road turns to gravel ). At the fork, go LEFT on RT 717, after 1.4 mile, you will see the three cabins on your right and Outfitters Cabin Circle. They are named--Wood Duck, Blue Heron, and Osprey. click to see photo directions.

The other Larger River Cabins are 3 more miles down the road. You will go down a steep hill, pass by the river to the second house on the right and Paddlers Retreat Lane is on the right. There are the 3 cabins-The Angler, the Drifter and the Paddler.(the road deadends in 1/2 mile)

Make sure you have the lockbox code or Call ahead (8 AM to 5 PM) for the lockbox code for the lockbox which is at your cabin's door.
